Hydro Flask Social Media Project Management

In my role on the Partnership and Events team, I  worked closely with the PR, Social, and Ambassador teams. My participation with these teams grew during COVID as many of our partnerships shifted to digital and social engagement initiatives. Below are some of the most recent projects I led. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Execute strategic content plans tailored to our social channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube

  • Ensuring that the social content reflects the inputs from cross-functional teams so that we are telling the broader brand story

  • Part of a cross-functional team brought together to elevate Hydro Flask's social presence, create new content series and initiatives, and address the evolving social media landscape

  • Supported the management of the content calendar and attended weekly meetings to update the content schedule to align with changing initiatives 

  • Quickly found the brand voice for content copy, photo selection, and creating, briefing, and managing episodic content that drives brand success

  • Built and maintained a close relationship with the entire ambassador team - Created a number of episodic series featuring ambassadors

  • Built ambassador database to pull specific content for future series

  • Managed the entire Hydro Flask social media program for an extended period of time while a social media giveaway and episodic series were live

  • Managed product seeding orders to ensure all ambassadors had the newest product in hand for episodes 

  • Researched and vetted a number of paid and unpaid ambassadors that aligned with Hydro Flask brand values

  • Introduced ambassadors to partnership opportunities that complimented their relationship to Hydro Flask

Heading 2

  • #InBetweenAdventures Series:

    • I pitched, briefed, managed this project in it's entire

    • Wrote copy, selected imagery, provided direction for each episode and topics to be discussed and uploaded to channels post episode 

    • Cross promoted through relevant partner channels (WSL, IMBA, Etc.) ​
    • Worked with ambassador team to coordinate schedules, provide project scope, run of show planning, episode recording and posting to social feeds. ​​​

    • Ambassadors include: 

      • Cliff Kapono​ : Professional surfer and chemist

      • Anna Ehrgott : Surfer, founder of Sage Board Bags 

      • Brooklyn Bell : Artist, activist, mountain biker

      • Lael Wilcox : Professional ultra-endurance bike racer 

  • #BeyondTheBackyard - collaborative social giveaway:

    • A social giveaway working cross-functionally with the eCommerce​, PR, and product team to deliver both a short-term and long-term omnichannel marketing strategy

    • Overview: Hydro Flask hosted Instagram giveaway encouraging fans to enter for a chance to win a prize pack to fuel their next local adventure.

    • To enter, fans will have to:

    • Follow all brands participating in the #BeyondTheBackyard giveaway

    • Sign up via email on the #BeyondTheBackyard landing page (i.e. enter-to-win).

    • Grand prize, Second place prize & Third place prize (3 winners total)

    • Channels: Instagram, IG Stories, Facebook & Twitter.

    • Participating brands: 

      • Sun Bum​

      • Rumpl Blankets

      • Smith Optics

      • Osprey Packs

      • Chaco Sandals

      • Coal Headwear

    • Key Responsibilities: 

      • I pitched, briefed, and managed the project in its entirety​

      • I leveraged relationships with some of the participating brands and created new, mutually beneficial relationships with the others

      • I worked with the creative to create assets highlighting all participating brands

      • I worked with the eCommerce team to create a landing page for email collection

      • I worked with legal to ensure all terms and conditions were in good standing 

      • Close collaboration with the social team to schedule the posts and stories

      • I managed the relationships with all brands to set expectations, posting/reposting requirements across all brand social channels, prize contributions, and collateral approval prior to kicking off the program. 

  • #RefillForGood Series:

    • I created the brief for the series, approved creative collateral, wrote and posted the content across Hydro Flask channels

    • Episodic series to draw attention to our Plastic Free July campaign. Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. ​​

    • Position HF as a key brand in conversation around single-use plastics and sustainable products.

    • Inform & Educate HF consumers about HF inclusion in the plastic-free conversation

    • Showcase other local paddle-outs happening across the US on IG Stories & YouTube.

    • Incorporate WSL #StopTrashingWaves Campaign encouraging fans to participate in local paddle-outs to raise awareness of ocean pollution. Will take place in mid-July.

    • Leverage brand partnership with the World Surf League to highlight the brand in conversation around single-use plastics

    • Drive engagement and awareness around #StopTrashingWaves and  #RefillForGood campaign by hosting Bend paddle-out on IG, IG Stories, FB & TW.

    • I worked with Hydro Flask Ambassador to create a series of interviews with respected voices in the sustainability community including:

      • Professional surfer - Lakey Peterson ​

      • Professional mountain biker - Hannah Barnes

      • Musician - Ron Artis II​​

      • Professional surfer - Ace Buchan 

      • Professional surfer - Paige Alms

    • Each episode focused on how individuals can make small changes to lessen their environmental impact while drawing awareness to the program and highlighting our ambassador team

  • Vissla Collaborative Giveaway: Mr & Ms Equipment Giveaway

    • An initiative that came from our surf industry partnerships, I collaborated with the VISSLA marketing manager and our shared ambassador Lakey Peterson to create a social giveaway to be cross-promoted across both brand channels. 

    • Served to collect emails for shared use in future promotions and outreach in addition to adding followers to both social accounts 

    • Key Responsibilities: 

      •  I pitched, briefed, and managed the project in its entirety​​

      • I worked with the creative to create assets highlighting all participating brands

      • I worked with the eCommerce team to create a landing page for email collection

  • #RecipesFromTheRoad: Product launch series

    • Two-part series I briefed and managed with Hydro Flask ambassadors Peter and Shruthi Lapp to highlight a new product launch, the insulated food jar. 

    • Created an episode run of the show for both parts. Worked closely with Peter and Shruthi to explain brand objectives for the series 

    • I created the brief for the series, approved creative collateral, wrote and posted the content across Hydro Flask channels

Kelli Delperdang, Social Media Specialist, Hydro Flask

Mitch is one of the most genuine, dedicated and hard-working marketing professionals that I’ve had the privilege to work with. He continually thinks outside the box, brings incredible strategic partners together for the same cause and always has the brand’s interest top of mind. In my career, there have been few people I've trusted more to manage complex projects with precision, confidence and a collaborative spirit. Beyond that, Mitch’s ability to stay focused and positive when things get hectic make him an extremely valuable asset to any marketing department. His energy and positivity fuel those around him every day and I feel so lucky to have him as a teammate!

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Mitch on some cross branded promotions between Hydro Flask and Vissla. Mitch was incredibly detailed and provided great communication to his internal team and outwardly to mine. These collaborations produced profitable ROI’s as well as wonderful consumer experiences. I am already looking forward to the next opportunity to collaborate with Mitch.

Kami York - Feirn, Social Media Manager, Osprey Packs

Mitch is professional and easy to work with! He is very knowledgeable about marketing and knows how to set up giveaways to make them very plug and play for all brands involved. I worked with him on a project where he managed the creative and social media assets (as well as execution) for a giveaway with 7-8 different outdoor brands, which is no small feat. I would work with Mitch again in a heartbeat and you'd be lucky to have him on your team.
